Black on Black

Mysterious “Henna ceremony”, a pre-wedding traditional event held in Asian, North African and Middle Eastern cultures. The new performance ceremony is led by a female “rabbi” who feeds the viewers in pomegranates and teaches them to bless, with a "palm gazelle" standing at her foot, blackening the palm branches as well as her own hands.

A performance by Marcelle Bitton and Aniam Deri, about the Orthodox and the Sephardi, addresses the political and social tensions in fictional ceremonial rituals.
